How Much Does Comment Moderation Software Cost? (2026 Pricing)

Ramkumar Rengasamy · Founder, ReplyMint10 min read

Comment moderation software costs between $0 and about $200 a month for self-serve tools, and from $1,500 a month for managed enterprise services. Most small brands, coaches, and creators land in the $0–$100 range. The real price depends on three things: how many comments you get, which platforms you need covered, and whether you want humans reviewing comments or AI alone. Here's what each tool charges in 2026, how the pricing models differ, and how to estimate your own budget.

The three pricing models — and which one fits you

Priced by comment volume

CommentGuard, MyComments.io, and ReplyMint charge by how many comments (and, for some, DMs) they process each month. This is the cheapest way to start and the easiest to predict if your volume is steady. The thing to check is what happens when a post goes viral and you hit your limit. On ReplyMint, you get warnings at 80% and 100%; after that, new messages stop being classified until the next 30-day window or an upgrade, and your inbox stays readable.

Priced by profiles and seats

NapoleonCat charges by social profiles and team members, and includes scheduling and analytics alongside moderation. It suits agencies juggling many accounts. Note that AI auto-moderation is on the Expert plan ($119/month), and ad comment moderation starts on Pro ($89/month).

Managed and enterprise services

Respondology, BrandBastion, and Arwen.ai sell moderation as a service, often with human reviewers, service-level commitments, and annual contracts. You're paying for coverage and accountability, not just software. It makes sense when a single missed hateful comment could become a PR problem.

Self-serve tools: $0 to $200 a month

ReplyMint has a Free plan with 200 messages a month (comments and DMs combined), where you see which comments are buyers and get reply suggestions. Solo is $39/month for 2,000 messages every 30 days and adds auto-replies and spam auto-hide; Growth is $79/month for 10,000 messages and adds team access. Yearly billing brings these to $31 and $63 a month. It covers Instagram, Facebook, and Threads.

CommentGuard runs from $29/month (up to 5,000 comments) to $49 (10,000), $99 (25,000), and $199 (50,000), with custom plans above that. Every plan includes Facebook and Instagram posts, ads, and DMs, plus unlimited AI responses. Annual billing gives you two months free.

MyComments.io charges $29.99 (1,000 comments), $79.99 (5,000), and $149.99 (25,000) a month, covering Facebook and Instagram with AI replies and DM automation.

NapoleonCat's plans are $79, $89, and $119 a month, each including 5 social profiles and 2 users.

Enterprise services: $1,500+ a month

Respondology's comment moderation starts at $1,500 a month on its Standard plan, billed annually. That includes 24/7 US-based human moderators, AI and keyphrase filtering, unlimited comments and seats, and coverage across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Threads. Standard is English-only; the Plus plan adds 100+ languages. Pricing scales with the number of social accounts you connect.

BrandBastion doesn't publish prices. It sells three plans — Agent+, Reputation+, and Engage+ — on custom quotes. Arwen.ai also quotes per brand.

Is BrandBastion or Respondology more expensive? Respondology publishes a $1,500/month starting price; BrandBastion doesn't publish one. The only fair comparison is to request quotes from both for the same set of accounts and the same coverage hours. compare the two in detail.

How to estimate your own budget

Follower count doesn't set your price — comment volume does. Four steps:

  1. Count your monthly comments. Multiply posts per month by average comments per post, then add comments on your ads. If a tool counts DMs, add those too. Example: 20 posts × 150 comments = 3,000, plus 2,000 ad comments = 5,000 a month.
  2. List the platforms you need. If you're active on Threads, your options narrow to tools that support it.
  3. Decide on AI-only or human review. AI-only tools are self-serve and cheap. Human review costs enterprise money.
  4. Leave headroom. A single viral reel can double a month's volume, so pick a plan with room above your normal month.

For the 5,000-comment example: CommentGuard Starter ($29) would sit right at its limit, MyComments.io Growth ($79.99) and ReplyMint Growth ($79, 10,000 messages including DMs) leave room, and ReplyMint Solo (2,000) would be too small.

The cost of doing it by hand

Doing nothing isn't free. If someone on your team spends 45 minutes a day triaging comments and their time costs $25 an hour, that's about $560 a month — more than most self-serve tools. And manual scanning misses things: in our study of 6,519 Instagram comments, only 2.9% showed buying intent, and 83% of those went unanswered for more than 24 hours.

What to check before you pay

  • Does it moderate ad comments, not just organic posts?
  • What happens when you hit your monthly limit?
  • Can you see and restore anything it hid?
  • Does it cover every platform you post on, including Threads?
  • Is it monthly, or locked into an annual contract?
  • Are DMs counted against your limit?

Frequently asked questions

How much does comment moderation software cost?

Self-serve tools cost from free to about $200 a month, usually priced by comment volume or number of profiles. Managed enterprise services with human moderators start around $1,500 a month on annual contracts, and some quote per brand.

Is BrandBastion or Respondology more expensive?

Respondology publishes a starting price of $1,500 a month, billed annually. BrandBastion only offers custom quotes, so the only reliable comparison is to request quotes from both for the same accounts and coverage.

What's a cheaper alternative to BrandBastion?

Self-serve tools like ReplyMint (free to $79/month), CommentGuard ($29–$199/month), and MyComments.io ($29.99–$149.99/month) moderate Instagram and Facebook comments without a sales call or annual contract. The trade-off is AI-only moderation rather than human moderators.

How much does Respondology cost?

Respondology's Moderate Standard plan starts at $1,500 a month, billed annually, and is English-only. The Plus plan adds 100+ languages, and pricing scales with the number of social accounts connected.

Is there free comment moderation software?

Yes. ReplyMint has a Free plan covering 200 comments and DMs a month, with buyer detection and reply suggestions. Instagram also has a free built-in keyword filter, Hidden Words, though it only matches the words you list.

What should I budget for comment moderation for a brand with 500k followers?

Budget by monthly comment volume, not followers. Count comments across posts and ads, add DMs if the tool counts them, and leave room for viral spikes. Many accounts that size fit a $50–$200/month self-serve plan; if you need human reviewers around the clock, expect $1,500+ a month.
